So What Happens Now?

Here’s a great idea from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston: They give heart surgery patients this brochure before the operation so that the patient and his/her family will have an idea of what to expect. It’s not written specifically for patients getting ready to undergo a Congenital procedure, but the recovery path for Congenital and non Congenital Heart Surgeries are very similar.Click these two links (Page 1 and Page 2) for enlargements of the pages if you wish to read them for yourself!

Beth Israel Deaconess is doing a lot of forward thinking things lately, you may remember that last year they began to give USB memory sticks to their Cardiovascular patients.

You can’t help but feel for the heart on the front page… the poor fellow looks tired and worn out! Perhaps he doesn’t need surgery, but he looks like he could use a few days off!

‘Till next time!
